but nevertheless, broke records today. managed to wake up to my alarm. just to sms someone good morning. but ohwell, thought i might as well watch the england match!

ah. shock. england 0 - 2 croatia in the first half. scott carson the culprit i bet. laughable, nevertheless. gifted such an Amazing lifeline only to squander it totally under pressure. typical english style. they seem to have a script written for the worst kind of football matches to be played. those that involve rollercoaster results and emotions. stupid, really.

why scott carson. inexperienced, lacks big-match temperament, a clean sheet against austria might have slightly vindicated him; but the move to drop robinson was a gamble. if it pays off, mclaren would be seen as a genius and has made an inspired decision; if it backfires, haha you're so screwed.

and backfire in spectacular fashion it did.

the english defence looked shaky as well. too shaky. honestly. not taking off wayne bridge? What Was Mclaren Thinking?! bridge was tortured all night and the defence along with scott carson was to blame for the poor result.

nevermind the decision to send jermaine defoe on was the first smart thing mclaren did all night. nevermind that he did not take off frank lampard, a spectator by large in the game. nevermind he finally realised he should take off SWP. nevermind the fact that frank lampard scored the penalty which gave england yet another lifeline. or the fact that crouch produced one heck of a goal that should have shouted to potential buyers of his quality and hopefully, teling rafa that he deserves to stay. or that beckham produced such a beautiful cross.

it has all amounted to nought. zero. thin air. nothing, but mere wisps of a dream that was and never to be. euro 08 gone, england can only ponder what the heck they did wrong and better not screw up 2010 qualification.

face it. croatia pwned england and if england were to get through, the Gods must have favoured them too much. too lucky, for sure. as england and russia faced a huge role reversal, being in the driver seat instead of russia after russia lost to israel.

both times, both teams that were in the driver's seat lost.

oh, the irony. wembley displayed its wrath for sure. haha. poor england.
